Geologist, B.Sc., M.Sc., Investor
I have always been passionate about science and research and knew from a young age that I wanted to build my own business. After attaining two degrees in geology, I spent three years with an oil company and drilled successful wells, using the same research discipline I built in my master's degree.
Three years was enough as an employee. I started as a consultant, then partnered with an engineer and built a geologic and engineering consulting company from the ground up, based on the same principles of integrity and excellence. Many years were tough, requiring long hours and little pay. After the darkest time, I bought out my partner, and my husband (an engineer) joined me in the business.
Then the Canadian government introduced legislation that effectively crippled oil sands and most of the oil and gas industry. My specialty in geologic research served a market that no longer existed. The business of detailed geologic research did not slow down — it ended. After 38 years, there was no longer a market for my field. The engineering business still operates under my husband.
I pivoted to trading and investing and brought the same discipline with me. I found that I loved this new career and applied myself to learning everything that I could. I learned a lot about my personality and what types of investing suited me best. I bring the same rigor to every trade that I once brought to a geologic analysis.
I believe in lifelong learning and know that this is a skill that all Founder CEOs embrace. This Founder CEO program offers skills and support to allow Founder CEOs to increase cash flow and alleviate some of the financial stress that we all experience in business. I am always here to help.
