Kevin Smith
Manna Mentorship Program Instructor
Over the course of his career, Kevin Smith has founded or co-founded six businesses as well as Whisper Ranch, a nonprofit equine rescue. Before becoming a full-time investor and entrepreneur, he built his corporate career in product management, ultimately serving as a Director of Product Management for two global industry leaders—one in electronic payments and another in insurance technology. That experience gave him an unusual combination of financial, operational, technological, and business-analysis expertise that would later shape both how he evaluates investments and how he builds companies.
Today, Kevin is a professional investor, hedge fund manager, entrepreneur, speaker, and educator with more than a decade of experience teaching the principles of Value Investing. His own journey began in 2010 under circumstances few would associate with becoming a professional investor: he had just $811 in savings and was living in someone's basement because he couldn’tafford rent following a sudden life-altering event. It was during that period of profound loss that he was introduced to the investing principles pioneered by Benjamin Graham and later refined by Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. Kevin spent the next several years studying, practicing, and applying those principles to rebuild his life. Five years later, he launched his first multimillion-dollar hedge fund, was traveling the world, and had reached the point where work became a choice rather than a financial necessity. It was that year that Kevin made the decision to help others do the same.
Over the next several years, he joined his mentor in educating more than 50,000 people through large live events and online training classes on the very same principles that changed his own life. In 2022, Kevin made a deliberate change in direction. Rather than focusing on reaching the greatest number of people and creating students, he decided to create a model focused on a repeatable process, which maximizes the success of the people he works with, and createscapable independent investors. He created the Manna Mentorship Program around a much more personalized model: much smaller groups, substantially more time together, direct access to the instructor, and an ongoing support community.
As the founder of Hedgewater Investment Management and the Manna Mentorship Program, Kevin now teaches the same disciplined approach to company analysis, valuation, portfolio construction, options, trading, and risk management that he personally developed and refinedthrough years of managing real capital in real markets. Students spend more than three months working with Kevin personally in a small-group environment, meeting together twice each week while also having ongoing access to ask questions as they apply what they learn. The program goes far beyond theory: Kevin shares the research frameworks, valuation models, spreadsheets, AI prompts, trading strategies, and risk-management tools he actually developed and uses himself to this day. The objective is not simply to teach students what Kevin knows, but to give them the principles, tools, repetition, direct mentorship, and support needed to ultimately continue on their own in pursuit of their own financial freedom...just as he did.
